Yousef Waiel Said

Biography

I’m a final-year Computer Science student at Ontario Tech University specializing in Data Science, currently completing my undergraduate honours thesis at vialab under the supervision of Mariana Shimabukuro and Christopher Collins. I bring a rare blend of technical depth and product leadership to the lab: as a Product Manager Intern at SOTI Inc., I owned a strategic global partner account that helped close a $7.4M, five-year deal and led a major software release from planning through general availability in under 13 weeks. I’ve also worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant building machine learning models for autonomous driving, co-founded and led a startup as CEO, and currently serve as President of Ontario Tech’s Product Managers Club.

Outside the lab, I’ve built embedded software for a student-engineered race car, run STEM workshops that inspired hundreds of students toward engineering, and even started a small custom-merchandise business — proof that I’m just as comfortable building products as I am building communities. That same mix of curiosity and drive is what I bring to my thesis work at vialab.
