Fareeha Malik

 

I am an alumna of Ontario Tech University, where I graduated in 2026 with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. My journey with the Vialab began in the summer of 2025, when I joined the lab as a Research Lab Coordinator under the supervision of Dr. Christopher Collins and co-supervision of Dr. Mariana Shimabukuro during my final year of undergraduate studies.

In this role, I supported a wide range of research, communication, and outreach initiatives. My work included contributing to Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) research, assisting with the development of research materials, creating drafts and media assets, designing posters, and supporting the presentation of the lab’s work. I also contributed to the lab’s online presence by writing articles for our Medium publication and creating social media content for platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn.

This experience allowed me to bring together my interests in research, communication, design, and technology while contributing to the Vialab in a variety of ways. It also gave me the opportunity to develop my skills beyond traditional computer science, particularly in communicating technical and research-focused work to broader audiences.
